Joseph Cornell

We had a whole day of exploring, collecting and assembling inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell (one of my heroes – have been waiting to do this session for ages!). Cornell was a fascinating character because he had no formal arts training but liked to ‘travel in his imagination’ by collecting ephemera from junk shops and put it together in his famous shadow boxes. Children made wire birds and arranged them with found objects.
