The Mill Retains Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence Status
We are delighted to announce that The Mill Primary Academy has successfully retained its Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Centre of Excellence status following our review in October 2025.
The assessor praised The Mill as “a shining example of a Centre of Excellence, who continuously look to improve their inclusive practices, in order to provide the best possible learning and experiences for their children.”
In her report, IQM Assessor Mrs Pat Wood commended the school’s commitment to inclusion and its strong sense of community:
“The Mill Primary Academy is a highly inclusive, nurturing school where relationships are everything. Staff relationships with each other and with pupils are very positive and strong.”
She highlighted the school’s “well-structured, relevant and engaging curriculum”, as well as innovative initiatives such as Kusama Class, the Nest, and Learning Without Walls, which together ensure that every child thrives.
The report also celebrated The Mill’s creative and caring ethos:
“Art and creativity have a very high profile at the school… pupils benefit from a range of rich and varied experiences.”
Headteacher Mrs Sophie Gosden said:
“All the decisions we make are down to our children. We are proud to continue our commitment to inclusivity for all stakeholders in the school as well as in the local community.”
The IQM assessor concluded:
“It was a real privilege to visit The Mill Primary Academy. They are a shining example of a Centre of Excellence.”
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and of everyone in our school community - pupils, staff, governors and families - who make The Mill the inclusive, supportive and inspiring place it is.
