World Book Day Brings Stories to Life!
The doors opened, the bell rang… and suddenly our school wasn’t a school any more.
It was a portal.
A portal to magical lands, chocolate factories, deep oceans and daring adventures.
From the very first step onto the playground, you could feel it — something extraordinary was happening.
Reception – My Favourite Character
Our youngest readers arrived as a wonderful parade of beloved characters. Princesses waved to superheroes. Gruffalos strolled past astronauts. It was like stepping straight into a storybook where every page had come to life!
Year 1 – Fairy Tales
Be careful what you wished for in Year 1! Fairy tale magic filled the air. We spotted brave knights, wicked witches, sparkling fairies and even a few runaway gingerbread men. Happily ever after? Absolutely.
Year 2 – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Golden Tickets were everywhere! Year 2 transformed into a world inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Oompa Loompas got busy, Willy Wonka made an appearance, and imaginations ran as wild as a chocolate river.
Year 3 – Mr Men and Little Miss
Giggles echoed down the corridors as Year 3 became a walking, talking collection of colourful characters from Mr. Men and Little Miss by Roger Hargreaves. From Mr Bump to Little Miss Sunshine, personality shone brightly everywhere you looked.
Year 4 – Under the Sea
Dive in! Year 4 took us beneath the waves with shimmering sea creatures, fearless explorers and mysterious underwater worlds. It was a splash of creativity and colour that would make any ocean proud.
Year 5 – Heroes and Villains
Watch out… Year 5 brought epic battles of good versus evil! Caped crusaders stood tall against cunning masterminds. The playground felt like a blockbuster movie set, reminding us that every great story needs both heroes and villains.
Year 6 – Magical Worlds
Step aside, reality — Year 6 entered entirely new realms. Wizards, mythical creatures and adventurers strode confidently through the day, proving that imagination truly has no limits. The magic was everywhere.
Throughout the day, children shared stories, recommended books to friends, and celebrated the joy of reading together. Classrooms buzzed with excitement, creativity and laughter — a reminder that books don’t just sit on shelves.
They take us places.
They help us dream bigger.
They let us become anyone.
What a truly magical World Book Day!
