J9 Initiative - Domestic Abuse Support
J9 Initiative
The Mill Primary is proud to be part of the J9 Initiative, which supports victims of domestic abuse.
The initiative was established in memory of Janine Mundy, who was tragically killed by her estranged husband in 2003 while he was on police bail. Following her death, her family and local police in Camborne, Cornwall, created J9 to raise awareness of domestic abuse and improve access to support for those affected.
The aims of the J9 Initiative are to:
- Raise awareness of domestic abuse
- Help victims access the support they need
As part of this initiative, you will see a pink J9 heart displayed around our school. This symbol lets victims know that they can:
- Access support and advice
- Get help to find a safe place
- Find further information
- Use a telephone in a safe and confidential space
At The Mill Primary, we are committed to supporting anyone who may be experiencing domestic abuse.
If you would like to speak to someone in confidence or be signposted to support, please contact Jane Crockford via the school office.
There is also a physical booklet available in the reception area containing further information and support services. You are also able to download the booklet and list of support services available below.
