Parent & Community Involvement
At The Mill, we believe that personal development is strongest when school, home, and the wider community work together. We actively encourage parents, carers, and community partners to be part of our enrichment and leadership programmes, creating meaningful opportunities for children to grow and thrive.
Ways Parents and Carers Are Involved
-
Attending performances, exhibitions, and showcases, including music concerts, Room 13 exhibitions, and Millers Radio presentations
-
Supporting fundraising projects and creative initiatives run through Room 13 or other enrichment activities
-
Volunteering in Forest School sessions, Bike Shed workshops, or classroom enrichment projects
-
Participating in parent workshops or information sessions linked to PSHE, RSE, or wellbeing initiatives
Engagement with the Wider Community
-
Millers Radio podcasts and pupil-led projects are shared with the wider community through newsletters and school events
-
Eco projects, charitable initiatives, and community events allow children to contribute positively outside the school
-
Local partnerships, including collaborations with other schools, arts organisations, and cycling projects, extend learning beyond the classroom and broaden pupils’ experiences
Benefits for Pupils
-
Children see the impact of their learning in real-life contexts, boosting confidence and motivation
-
Pupils develop social and communication skills through meaningful interaction with adults and community members
-
Links with the wider community inspire ambition, creativity, and a sense of responsibility
By fostering strong connections with families and community partners, we ensure that children’s personal development is supported, celebrated, and embedded in the life of the school and beyond.
